Bicycles in Newcastle: at the uni

There are many more bikes at the uni now than there used to be, even since last year their numbers have increased. And the range of style of bikes has changed too, they are obviously not just transport but seeing the fixies and the prettily painted basketed bikes there now, it is obvious that some students are becoming bicycle enthusiasts. Sometimes it is even difficult to find a place to park my bike, both at the city and Callaghan campuses. This is definitely a sign that bike culture is growing in Newcastle and the use of bikes for transport at both those sites is a positive change due to the traffic and car parking problems that exist both in town and at Callaghan. The Callaghan campus is well serviced with bike tracks headed there from many directions, I can ride there mostly on off road bike tracks and am surprised when people tell me it is a long ride from where I am. It only takes me 40 minutes to get there from Adamstown and I ride quite slowly. See some of the lovely bikes I have seen at both sites recently ….
