The Hannel Street crossing of the Throsby Creek bike track is very dangerous, and the RTA is considering installing lights to make it safer for cyclists and pedestrians. There are four lanes of traffic travelling at 70kph, with a small traffic island in the centre of the road, too short for those with a tandem, cargo bike or pushing a pram. I do not like to cross there, ever.
So this weekend there will be a group of protesters seeking to raise awareness about the dangers of this crossing and to get signatures for a petition. If you can make it there, every one helps.
