Malvern Star Wisp

Seen in Newcastle today, and this one looks as though it is all original. A quick look on eBay tells me there are a few of them around, they date back to the 80s, have 10 speeds and now sell for around $150.There are some nice details on the frame, and while it would benefit from some rust removal, it is overall a nice looking bike. The mudgards would come in handy today too, after the one inch of rain we had last night!

Edited to add: I have since met the owner of this bike and she told me she picked it up very cheaply locally and that she rides it to work every day.

sweet little thing isnt it? It wierds me out the way with design they (manufacturers) will do things like alloy fenders (so good! no rust) but then chromed rims and headsets??? aren’t these the bits that need to last?
I get that you usually pay more for the generally available alloy version of these kinds of bikes, but its still disappointing…..
Im still picking the rust from under my fingernails after a morning of cleaning my everyday bike that is only 4years old, but coastal living has screwed with the headset, handlebars, crankset, pedals, chain, blah blah blah.

A Malvern Star Wisp, a Speedwell, oh my bike education is expanding! Thanks. I like the blue color, kind of a lighter shade of aqua. Nice.
