The tweed ride was a success, much to my relief. There was a wonderful turnout of vintage enthusiasts and Newcastle bloggers, over 40 riders in all. I was far too busy on the day to get very good photos but the photos the others took did the ride justice.
These picnickers were very prepared with their champagne, teapot and even a vase of flowers!
There was also great media coverage from NBN TV and the Herald which was unexpected. Alex was our Master of Ceremonies and kept us all entertained with his unique version of Novocastrian history.
See Pink Patent Mary Janes, a new recyclist, i cycle newcastle and showbag for some more great snaps.
Thanks to Peter who helped me plan the details of the ride route, Ray the ride leader, Sam who organised the sausage sizzle and Ben who provided us with some jazz music at the end. And also to my daughter who designed the posters and helped with marketing. It was a great day and many asked if it will be an annual event and if we could make it a bikes/parts swap meet as well next year. Great suggestion!
Well done, Vicki !
Thanks again Peter. All the things we thought could spoil it didn’t happen, thankfully.
